BERLIN, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Germany plans to withdraw its six Tornado jets flying reconnaissance missions in Afghanistan but will send in about 90 army personnel to help train the Afghan military, according to a government report.
The withdrawal of the jets will take place in November, according to a defence ministry report for a parliamentary committee which was seen by Reuters on Thursday.
Germany has 4,590 military personnel stationed in Afghanistan, making it the third largest contingent of the 150,000-strong international force fighting the Taliban-led insurgency. The Afghan security forces number about 300,000.
