The statement urged States Parties to address their clearance obligations as soon as possible in order to meet their clearance deadline, and emphasized that operators such as DCA already have the knowledge and capacity in place to get the job done, applying the lessons learnt from our previous work in mine action. Moreover, we encourage sufficient national ownership and funding to address the serious threat cluster munitions pose to innocent civilians across the world. The Convention on Cluster Munitions, CCM, prohibits all use, stockpiling, production and transfer of Cluster Munitions. Separate articles in the Convention concern assistance to victims, clearance of contaminated areas and destruction of stockpiles. For more information: http://www.clusterconvention.org/ Tamar Szeps-ZnaiderFunding Officer, Mine Action Unit, DanChurchAid (DCA)
