Blast at polling station in northern Nigeria

LAGOS, April 9 (Reuters) - An explosion hit a polling booth in a neighbourhood of the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri during a parliamentary election on Saturday, an emergency official said.

"There is a possibility of casualties," said Yushua Shuaib, spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). He said the polling station was in the Unguwar Doki neighbourhood.

Around 100 people have been killed in the run-up to elections in Africa's most populous nation, including 10 who died in a bomb blast at an election office on Friday. Nobody has claimed responsibility for that explosion.
