Our poor weekly blog has been a bit neglected of late, all the more to tell you this week!

Let’s start with Aswat Masriya. As-what? Aswat Masriya is TrustMedia’s new Egyptian Elections news and information website. We launched last week and have had a fantastic response. The website provides Egyptians with vital news and information about the upcoming elections in Egypt, and is run by a team of local journalists in Cairo.

It’s part of TrustMedia’s wider project to strengthen the media in Egypt at this crucial time in the democratic process. We’re also running a number of ‘Elections Reporting’ courses for Egyptian journalists to encourage objective and informative reporting during the elections. You can read about some of their experiences here.

Our fantastic multimedia team are producing a series of short multimedia pieces on the Egyptian Revolution, from the first uprising to the trail of Mubrark. Parts one and two are ready to watch now- we’ll keep you posted on part three.

And in even better Aswat Masriya news, we’ve just secured funding for an English version of the site, which should be off the ground really soon!

Follow Aswat Masriya on Twitter and Facebook!

In other news, we’ve had loads of courses going on over the past couple of weeks in; London, South Africa, Hong Kong, China, The Hague, Dakar… including a very successful Women’s Health and Opportunity course in cooperation with GBCHealth in Johannesburg that you can read about in our blogs section.

We have four fully-funded courses with open applications at the moment:

-         Good Governance Reporting in Sarajevo

-         Covering Extractive Industries (Oil and Gas) in Beirut

-         Writing Financial and Business News in London

-         Ethics and Standards of Social Networking and New Media in the Arab World

Last but nor least, we are currently looking for an Arabic-speaking intern at our HQ in London. More details here, and the deadline is Tuesday 8th November, so get your CVs and covering letters in soon!

Keep following us on twitter and Facebook!

Until next week,

TrustMedia team
