Dec 22 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq as of 1800 GMT on Thursday.

* BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb followed by a car bomb killed five people and wounded 14 others in Baghdad's southwestern Al-Shurta al-Khamissa district, a police source said.

* BAGHDAD - A parked car bomb killed four people and wounded nine others when it went off in Baghdad's southwestern Jihad district, police said.

* BAQUBA - Gunmen using silenced weapons killed a local bodyguard in front of his house in western Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) northeast of Baghdad, a police source in Baquba's security operations centre said.

* MOSUL - Police found the body of a young man with gunshot wounds to the head in western Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, a police source in Nineveh province security operations centre said.

* MOSUL - A sticky bomb attached to the car of an off-duty policeman seriously wounded him and a nearby traffic policeman when it went off in central Mosul, a police source in Nineveh province security operations centre said.

* MOSUL - A roadside bomb wounded a woman when it exploded in western Mosul, a police source in Nineveh province security operations centre said.

* MOSUL - Gunmen opened fire on a police checkpoint in western Mosul, seriously wounding a policeman, a police source in Nineveh province security operations centre said.

BAGHDAD - Two roadside bombs went off near a police patrol, killing seven, including three policemen, and wounding 21, in Baghdad's southwestern Amil district, police said.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb in Baghdad's central Karrada district killed at least 18 and wounded 44 others, police and health sources said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb near Baghdad's northern Adhamiya district killed one person and wounded five, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb went off in a wholesale vegetable market, killing one person and wounding six others, in Baghdad's northwestern Shula district, police said.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb near a market wounded six people in Baghdad's southeastern Ameen district, police said.

BAGHDAD - Two roadside bombs went off in quick succession near police patrols, wounding eight people in Baghdad's northern Shaab district, police said.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb near a market killed three people and wounded six in Baghdad's southern Abu Dsheer area, police said.

BAGHDAD - Two roadside bombs went off near a place where day labourers gathered, killing four people and wounding 14 others, in Baghdad's central Alawi area, police said.

BAQUBA - Gunmen stormed a house and killed a family of five -- parents, their two daughters and a son -- in Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) northeast of Baghdad, police said. The father and son were members of the government-backed Sahwa Sunni militia.

KIRKUK - Police said they found the body of a man with a slit throat in the city of Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

JURF AL-SAKHAR - A roadside bomb went off near a crowd of Sunni Sahwa members, and wounded three fighters in the town of Jurf al-Sakhar, 60 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

MUSSAYAB - Gunmen attacked a Sunni Sahwa checkpoint and wounded two of its members in the town of Mussayab, 60 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL - Gunmen killed a woman in a market on Wednesday in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said. (Compiled by Baghdad bureau)
