Photo competition winners

Expose Corruption! youth photography and writing competition was launched by the Thomson Reuters Foundation in partnership with Transparency International (TI) to mark the 20th anniversary of TI, one of one of the world’s leading anti-corruption organisations. We asked young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to depict corruption and how to combat it. The competition was judged by Thomson Reuters Foundation, Transparency International and professional journalists and photographers.

Photo competition winners:

First Place: Sony Ramany, Bangladesh, wins a paid trip to Berlin to participate in a Transparency International event in November; up to 1,000 euros worth of camera equipment; work published on  Thomson Reuters Foundation;

Second Place: Rajarshi Chowdhury, India, wins up to 400 euros worth of camera equipment and work published on Thomson Reuters Foundation

Third Place: Maria Francesca Avila, Philippines, and Sumon Yusuf, Bangladesh,  win up to 250 euros worth of camera equipment; work published on Thomson Reuters Foundation

Honorable Mentions:  Jonas Kako, George Karugu Maina, A.M. Ahad, Soham Gupta, Mehman Huseynov and Lee Harper.

The more than 500 digital photos submittedwere judged using the following criteria:

- Impact - compelling subject matter and caption

- Artistic interpretation - composition, style

- Technical skills - focus, colour, use of light
