Expose Corruption! youth photography and writing competition was launched by the Thomson Reuters Foundation in partnership with Transparency International (TI) to mark the 20th anniversary of TI, one of one of the world’s leading anti-corruption organisations. We asked young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to depict corruption and how to combat it. The competition was judged by Thomson Reuters Foundation, Transparency International and professional journalists and photographers.
Writing competition winners:
First Place: Uguh Wilson Emenike, Nigeria, wins a paid trip to Berlin to participate in a Transparency International event in November; a tablet computer and work published by Thomson Reuters Foundation
Second Place: Keisha Baisden, Trinidad and Tobago, wins a tablet computer, and work published by Thomson Reuters Foundation
Third Place: Subecha Dahal, Nepal, wins up to 250 euros worth of books and work published by Thomson Reuters Foundation
Over 900 essays submitted were judged on the following criteria:
- The idea
- How inspirational it is
- Originality
- Clarity of concept
- Language and style
