Tropical storm Fernand struck Mexico at about 23:00 GMT on 25 August. Data supplied by the US National Hurricane Center suggest that the point of landfall was near 19.2 N, 95.8 W. Fernand brought 1-minute maximum sustained winds to the region of around 74 km/h (46 mph). Wind gusts in the area may have been considerably higher.
