Tropical storm Fernand struck Mexico at about 09:00 GMT on 26 August. Data supplied by the US National Hurricane Center suggest that the point of landfall was near 19.8 N, 96.9 W. Fernand brought 1-minute maximum sustained winds to the region of around 74 km/h (46 mph). Wind gusts in the area may have been considerably higher.
