What does women’s empowerment look like in your country? And what does it mean to you? The Thomson Reuters Foundation and Nokia are inviting aspiring photographers and photojournalists to submit images capturing the many aspects of women’s empowerment around the world. This is an incredible opportunity to use pictures to spark positive debate on women’s rights, and to help foster social change.

We’re on the lookout for images showcasing leadership, courage, passion, opportunity, innovation or motherhood around the world.

Photos will be judged by a public vote, alongside a distinguished panel of photography, journalism and women’s rights experts. Then ten finalists will be chosen and asked to put the new Nokia Lumia 1020 to the test by using the smart phone to create a portfolio of photos that capture the empowerment of women.

The winner of the competition will receive the first Thomson Reuters Foundation–Nokia Photography Award, which includes: an all-expenses paid trip to attend a week long professional training on mobile journalism organized and run by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, a Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone, full promotion across Talenthouse’s global platform, and the opportunity to have his or her work published on the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s award-winning website.

You have until Tuesday 11th February 2014 to post your entries, so if you’re ready to make a difference with your camera, get snapping! Watch this video for inspiration. Don't forget to use #click4change when sharing.
