Car bomb explodes in Lebanese town near Syria border -source, media

BEIRUT, Jan 16 (Reuters) - A car bomb went off near a local government building in the Lebanese town of Hermel, wounding a number of people, a security source and local media said on Thursday.

Hermel is in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley near its northern border with Syria and is known as a stronghold of the Shi'ite militant and political movement Hezbollah.

There were no immediate details of casualties.
