Massive landslide in Indonesia kills at least six and more missing

by Reuters

A massive landslide in Indonesia has killed at least six people on Tuesday (January 28) and another 14 were still missing, local media reported.

Authorities and residents were seen digging for buried residents in Jombang, East Java Province.

Local media said the landslide was caused by heavy rain that lasted two days which caused a 70-metre-high cliff to collapse onto houses beneath.

Floods and landslides are common in Indonesia during the rainy season partly due to bad drainage facilities.
