Vietnam has adopted an emergency plan to prevent an outbreak of the H7N9 virus, banning sales and transports of poultry across the border, according to the Agriculture Ministry, Vietnam News reported.
The ministry noted that the virus has been found in samples from markets but poultry products are still safe for people if the birds are slaughtered and processed in the right way, the report said. Lao Cai province bordering China has banned poultry sales in its markets.
