VIDEO: Confronting “Lad Culture” and everyday sexism on UK campuses

“Lad Culture” in Britain has normalised sexual harassment, and led victims to be blamed if they oppose it.

Kelley Temple, National Women’s Officer at the National Union of Students (NUS), tells Thomson Reuters Foundation that one-seventh female students in the UK has experienced severe sexual violence, and the victims usually find there is limited support and the problem is not taken seriously.

The NUS is holding a national summit on 21 February 2014 in London, working with The Everyday Sexism Project and No More Page 3 campaigns, to confront “Lad Culture” on university campuses.
