Oranges to treat children

«Operate on a child from Terre des hommes gives the feeling to do something extremely useful, close to this very reason we are performing surgeries in Africa. We know that thereby we are able to provide a happy and great future for the child and that, in contrast to our own children, this could be his or her only chance. To give each of those children the opportunity to lead a normal life – this is Terre des hommes’ commitment.»

«For more than 50 years, Tdh has returned hope and health to sick and malnourished children. That is why we need you – on March 14 and 15 throughout Switzerland. Please buy one, two or better all the oranges at our stands!»

René Prêtre is professor at the University of Lausanne and has been head of the cardiovascular surgery department at the University Hospital of Lausanne since August 2012.

As medical specialist for paediatric cardiac surgery, René Prêtre organizes humanitarian missions on a regular basis. Additionally, the charismatic surgeon has been elected Swiss of the Year 2009 and has joined Tdh’s Council of Foundation in 2013.

Every year, Terre des hommes offers sustainable solutions and a better future for over two million children and their relatives. Learn more about our projects in the field of health and nutrition (
