MAIDUGURI, Nigeria, March 14 (Reuters) - Heavy gunfire raged for two hours in Nigeria's northeastern city of Maiduguri on Friday morning, residents said, and explosions were heard at the Giwa barracks, where the army has detained hundreds of Islamist insurgent suspects.
