WASHINGTON, March 17 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday said the United States was ready to impose further sanctions on Russia over its incursion into Ukraine's Crimea region but that there was still a path to resolve the crisis diplomatically.

Obama, in a statement to reporters, also underscored NATO's "solemn commitment" to the collective defense of the alliance's members. (Reporting by Susan Heavey; Editing by Bill Trott)
