Aden, March 24 (Reuters) - Twenty Yemeni soldiers were killed in an attack on a military checkpoint in the eastern province of Hadramout, state news agency Saba said on Monday quoting a local official.

Yemen has been in turmoil since mass protests forced long-serving President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down in 2012.

His successor, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, has been struggling to restore order in the country of 25 million, where al Qaeda militants have a strong presence. (Reporting By Mohammed Mukhashaf; Writing By Maha El Dahan; editing by Sami Aboudi)
