Afghan women have seen great progress in education, public life and legal rights since 2001. But progress has been uneven and gains are undermined by growing insecurity sparked by militants bent on returning Afghanistan to strict Islamic rule. Sakena Yacoobi, founder and executive director of the Afghan Institute of Learning, talks to Thomson Reuters Foundation about the challenges for Afghan society and how men need to be included in efforts to make the country a safer place for women.
