WARSAW, April 4 (Reuters) - Customs officers seized 150 kg (330 lbs) of heroin hidden in a truck crossing into Poland from Ukraine on Friday, one of the biggest hauls of the narcotic recovered in Europe for years, Polish authorities said.
They found the drugs wrapped in 300 plastic bags hidden beneath the trailer floor of the truck as it tried to cross into Poland near the town of Medyka at about 4 a.m. (0200 GMT).
The finance ministry, which supervises the customs service in Poland, said the drugs had a black market value of 30 million zlotys ($10 million), the largest haul in seven years.
"If the narcotic had not been intercepted on the border, up to 600,000 units of the drug could have reached our streets," Jacek Kapica, head of the Customs Service, said in a statement.
