LOS ANGELES, April 24 (Reuters) - Some 13 people, including children, were injured on Thursday when a school bus veered off a Southern California road, authorities said.

There were no reports of fatalities in the late afternoon crash in Anaheim, some 25 miles south of Los Angeles, but several of the most badly hurt victims were taken to area hospitals, Anaheim Fire Marshal Jeff Lutz said.

The circumstances of the crash were not immediately clear, Lutz said, adding that the driver had to be extricated from the bus.

A California Highway Patrol spokesman said the crash prompted closure of the road in both directions.

The Orange Unified School District could not be reached for comment.
