WASHINGTON, June 12 (Reuters) - The United States is not contemplating sending ground troops to Iraq to help quell an insurgency there, White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Thursday.

President Barack Obama said earlier that he did not rule out any options for helping Iraq combat violence. Carney said Obama was referring to not ruling out air strikes. (Reporting by Jeff Mason and Roberta Rampton; Editing by Eric Beech)
