NEW YORK, June 13 (Reuters) - A small plane crashed on Friday near a state university in a suburb just north of New York City, local police said.
The plane went down close to the Westchester County Airport, 23 miles (37 km) north of New York City, but it wasn't known whether it was taking off or landing, according to police in the town of Harrison.
It was unclear if anyone was hurt. Medical teams were on scene, a police dispatcher said.
An officer at the State University of New York at Purchase said the plane went down close to the school but was not on campus grounds. (Reporting by Victoria Cavaliere; Editing by Eric Beech)
