Terre des hommes (Tdh) in Brazil took advantage of the popularity of the World Cup to launch a campaign in Fortaleza, one if its intervention area. The campaign “Supporting the Peace”, funded by the Federation of Industries of the State of Ceara, aims to promote and raise awareness about the culture of peace.

About 120,000 flyers containing key information about child sexual abuse, child labour exploitation, violence prevention for children and the culture of peace were distributed in communities, companies and public areas. The flyers targeted the Public Education Network, especially teachers, as well as children and adolescents aged from 7 to 17 years old, in order to teach them how to avoid situations of abuse and exploitation. These brochures were also distributed to adults in order to make them aware of this problem and allow them to denounce these situations by calling the numbers listed.

Tdh Brazil works with the Juvenile Restorative Justice to develop conflict mediation processes, restorative practices after conflicts and to spread the culture of peace. In 2013, these projects to prevent violence have targeted and informed more than 16,000 people and directly benefitted 7,480 children.

Every year, Terre des hommes offers sustainable solutions and a better future for over two million children and their relatives. Learn more about our projects in Brazil.
