July 1 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Arthur, the first named storm of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season, has formed off the central Florida coast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Tuesday.
The storm was located about 95 miles (155 km) south-east of Cape Canaveral, Florida, and about 80 miles (130 km) north-northwest of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, the Miami-based weather forecasters said.
The storm is moving toward the northwest at near 2 miles per hour, and on the forecast track, the center of the tropical cyclone is expected to remain offshore and move east of the east-central coast of Florida during the next day or so, the NHC said.
