CAIRO, July 13 (Reuters) - Three people were killed in an explosion near a security compound in Egypt's Sinai region, near the border with Israel, security officials and the state's MENA news agency said.
Egypt has been hit by a Sinai-based Islamist insurgency that has mainly targeted security forces since last year after the army's overthrow of elected Islamist President Mohamed Mursi.
Medical sources said around 22 others were injured in Sunday's blast. (Writing by Yasmine Saleh; Editing by Sandra Maler)
