Ukraine's Poroshenko could dissolve parliament on Aug 24 - spokesman

KIEV, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko may announce the dissolution of parliament as early as Sunday, his spokesman said on Thursday.

The decision would be taken when there was a constitutional basis for it, his spokesman, Svyatoslav Tseholko, said in a Twitter post. "And that moment starts from Independence Day (August 24)," Tseholko said.

Ukraine's governing coalition collapsed on July 24, and the dissolution stemming from that event will set up a parliamentary election in late October. (Writing By Richard Balmforth, editing by John Stonestreet)
