SANTIAGO, Sept 8 (Reuters) - An explosion at a fast-food restaurant next to an underground train station in the Chilean capital of Santiago has injured at least six people, police said.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.

The blast occurred at lunchtime on Monday in a small shopping and eating area next to the Escuela Militar metro station in the neighborhood of Las Condes.

The metro was operating normally although entry to the Escuela Militar station was restricted, the police said. (Reporting by Rosalba O'Brien and Fabian Cambero; Editing by Meredith Mazzilli)
