"I was waking up with the banner: Support the Filipino people": Interview with ECHO's Ionut Homeag one year after Haiyan

As a member of the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO)'s Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) and the 1st EU Civil Protection Team, Ionut Homeag was deployed on 10 November 2013 in response to the Typhoon Haiyan emergency in the Philippines. He arrived in Tacloban, capital of Leyte province, one of the most severely devastated areas where he spent one week on site to assess the situation and facilitate the Commission's and Member States' relief efforts and coordination.

Ionut looks back on the disaster, its devastation and survivors, and his own role in the recovery efforts and what it's meant to him.
