BEIJING, Jan 15 (Reuters) - China is communicating with the United States about the case of Ling Wancheng, the brother of a one-time senior aide to then President Hu Jintao, a senior Chinese official said on Friday.

Liu Jianchao, director general of the Department of International Cooperation of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the ruling Communist Party's anti-graft watchdog, announced the news to reporters.

Ling Wancheng is in the United States, sources have told Reuters, though the government has given no details of any crime he is suspected of and he has not appeared on any Chinese wanted lists.

His brother, Ling Jihua, was once a presidential aide.
