In this short documentary from Girls Not Brides Sangita from Bhakaptur, Nepal recounts how she fell in love at seventeen while still an ambitious student. Now she is eighteen, married, working in a brick kiln, and pregnant.

The legal age for marriage is 20, but 37% of girls in Nepal marry before the age of eighteen. Many of these marriages are arranged, but Sangita is part of a growing trend of “love marriages”.

In this video Sangita reflects on the downsides of early marriage.
