Despite the fact that borders are closed and it is both incredibly dangerous and close to impossible to cross into the European Union, children, traveling alone, continue to try to do just that, putting themselves at real risk in their efforts, exploited by smugglers, beaten by border guards, with limited, coordinated services in place across the Balkans to ensure their safety and protection. This is the story of one 17 year old from Afghanistan currently stranded in Serbia.
