Jordanian women imprisoned in name of family honour

by Rosie-Lyse Thompson/Shanshan Chen | Thomson Reuters Foundation

Jordan has one of the highest rates of honour killings in the world. Authorities can indefinitely incarcerate women considered to be at risk of being attacked or killed in the name of family honour. For many of the imprisoned women, marriage is the only path to freedom. This film tells the story of three women who were held in protective custody, including 52-year-old Fatima who remained in prison for 22 years.
