SEOUL, Oct 13 (Reuters) - South Korea's trade minister said on Friday the United States may demand that Seoul guarantees it will import U.S. shale gas imports and step up arms purchases if the two countries renegotiate a free trade agreement.
"I believe requests from U.S. may include imports of U.S. shale gas (into South Korea) and purchases of its arms," South Korean Trade Minister Kim Hyun-chong said, speaking in parliament.
Asked about China's trade retaliation against South Korea's decision to deploy a U.S. anti-missile defence system, Kim said Korea has not "abandoned" an option to file complaints to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
