About the training course

This four-day course will be organized from 20th August to 23rd August, 2019. It is widely recognized by humanitarian aid agencies, helps trainers become more efficient and effective. It is open for participants who are keen to develop and hone their training skills and learning styles. This course introduces the participants to the training cycle, training needs analysis, process of designing training programmes, writing individual training sessions, training methods and resources, roles of the trainer, presentation of individual training sessions and feedback and discussion on individual training sessions. RedR India’s Training of Trainers will help the participants in building their skills and confidence for becoming a facilitator for learning, and not just a presenter.

  1. Individuals engaged in the training of human resource for humanitarian sector and disaster risk reduction.
  2. Individuals interested to engage as trainers in the field of humanitarian sector and disaster risk reduction.
  3. Capacity building staff of the agencies working in the humanitarian sector and on disaster risk reduction.

Course Outline

RedR India’s Training of Trainers is very practical and the emphasis is firmly on learning from doing. Sessions on adult learning, training design, methodology and evaluation will be immediately put into practice by participants through the designing and running of their own short training sessions. The course includes options to explore particular topics in more detail, and time is set aside to review other approaches to meeting learning needs of the participants through experience, observation and feedback.

Day 1 - Provides a foundational basis of the theories and principles underlining the process of training and facilitation.

Day 2 - Provides the participants with the nuances of planning and conducting a training, and deals mainly with the skills and approaches required for effective facilitation.

Day 3 - Puts the learning from day 1 and 2 to practice as the participants are engaged in planning and delivering their own midi sessions on selected topics.

Day 4-Consolidates the training as the participants get a platform to conduct maxi-sessions based on the knowledge and skills gained during the training and their personal and professional experiences.

Who will conduct this course?

This is a foundational course of RedR India and is delivered by the Master Trainers of RedR, who bring extensive operational, programmatic and training experience from across the humanitarian and DRR Sector. This course is also essential to become an associate trainer with RedR India and to be able to join our training team. The emphasis is on peer based learning and experience sharing as demonstrated in the facilitation of this course.

How will this course be conducted?

The emphasis during this four-day training will be on active learning of the participants through participatory and practice sessions. The methodology used in this training will comprise of group work and individual reflection to cover training theory and adult learning approaches. All participants will also be given space to develop and apply the learning throughout the course and this will involve drafting and delivering session plans and sessions individually and in teams. Peer feedback approach drawing on adult learning principles will also be applied and demonstrated during the training.

Course Fee     

  • Residential* - Full Fee - ₹40000/$570
  • Non-Residential**- Full Fee - ₹ 26000/$370

* Includes tuition fee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, refreshments during training and shared accommodation (room to be shared by two participants).  ** Includes tuition fee, lunch and refreshments during training.

The course fee is inclusive of applicable taxes in India. Base currency for RedR India is INR. All the billing will be in INR, with equivalent USD / GBP or other currency rate prevailing at the time of billing being applicable.  Single occupancy rooms can be made available on request and with additional cost.

General Information

The training shall be conducted in English but as a RedR India policy, participants who are not very comfortable with English are also encouraged to participate, and are helped in every possible way.
