David W. Binet is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Woodbridge Company Limited. He is also Deputy Chairman of Thomson Reuters. Woodbridge is the holding company of Canada’s Thomson family. Woodbridge owns a 58% stake in Thomson Reuters, a controlling interest in The Globe and Mail, Canada’s national newspaper, and numerous other investments. Prior to joining Woodbridge, David was a partner in the Canadian law firm Torys LLP, where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. David is a director of The Globe and Mail, Chairman of the Board of Directors of The National Ballet of Canada and a director of Canada’s National Ballet School. David has a graduate degree (MSJ) in journalism from Northwestern University. He was a news wire reporter and editor with Canadian Press for several years. David also has degrees from Queen’s University (BA Hons), and McGill University (LLB).
