Carolina has been with Thomson Reuters Foundation since 2014, managing relationships with TrustLaw members and facilitating their engagement with the service. She handles the pro bono legal projects from TrustLaw’s community of NGOs and social enterprises, frames and defines the projects, and then connects them with lawyers. She also assists with the publication and distribution of the research carried out as part of cross-border research programmes.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Carolina worked in private practice as a litigation associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, a top international law firm in New York, where she advised clients on a variety of commercial, corporate and public interest matters. Subsequently, she worked pro bono as Legal Expert for the Center for Human Rights of the American Bar Association, conducting trial observations and advising on international commercial and human rights matters.

While in Venezuela, Carolina was a legal intern at Baker & McKenzie S.C. and later at the World Bank. Subsequently, she was a legal fellow for the Zambian Law Development Commission, where she worked on reviewing legislation on human trafficking and children’s rights and issued recommendations for reform. Carolina is a qualified lawyer in the U.S. and Venezuela. She received a Master’s Degree from Harvard Law School, where she studied international development and finance, and holds a Law Degree from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Venezuela.
