Spencer is the Legal Programme Manager for East Asia, managing TrustLaw’s network of NGOs, social enterprises, and lawyers in the region. He facilitates pro bono legal assistance for members, and supports strategic legal research programmes on regional and cross-border issues such as social finance, human trafficking, children's rights, and climate change. Spencer has broad experience in commercial legal practice and in the non-profit sector. Before joining the Foundation, Spencer worked in private practice as an intellectual property lawyer at Hogan Lovells in Hong Kong, and subsequently worked in-house as a corporate and commercial lawyer handling legal matters in China and Hong Kong. Spencer acted as a consultant for UNESCO Hong Kong and PILnet, and assisted with the operation of a social enterprise with Caritas Hong Kong. Spencer was awarded the Pro Bono Gold Award by the Law Society of Hong Kong in 2012.
