June 16 - Day of the African Child

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa was first reported over two years ago – and it quickly became the deadliest. It killed more than 11,000 people in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Children lost parents, health systems deteriorated and schools closed. Despite the acute challenges, communities are demonstrating strong resilience and with support from aid organisations, children are starting to regain a sense of normality.
