  • LIVE DEBATE: Disasters hurt more women than men. What's the solution?

    Tweet Like Google+ email
Worldwide, women and girls are up to 14 times more likely than men to die in a disaster. They often find themselves confined to traditional gender roles that limit their ability to lead, which can make them more vulnerable when disaster strikes. In an online debate ahead of the International Day for Disaster Reduction (October 13), organised by the Thomson Reuters Foundation and the BRACED programme, we will discuss ways of helping women become more resilient to climate extremes. What should governments, aid agencies and businesses do differently to protect lives and put women and girls at the core of disaster risk reduction?
