FINANCIAL NEWS:

THOI BAO KINH TE VIETNAM

-- Banks are not eager to cut interest rates because loan demand tends to rise at the end of the year and several lenders are still facing difficulties raising deposits, bankers said.

LAO DONG

-- Loans in Vietnam rose 17.81 percent in the 12 months to Sept. 16, below deposit growth of 21.5 percent and an increase in money supply of 18.5 percent, the central bank said.

QUAN DOI NHAN DAN

-- State oil group Petrovietnam said its revenues in the first nine months of this year reached 342 trillion dong ($17.5 million), or 4 percent above the target for the whole of 2010.

-- A total of 48 people were killed by recent floods and landslides in the central region, while another 19 were injured and 18 were still missing, the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control said.
