ACCRA, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Ghana's President John Atta Mills said on Friday his country would not take sides in Ivory Coast's political standoff and that he thinks using force will not solve the problem.

Ivory Coast has been in turmoil since a Nov. 28 election in which both incumbent Laurent Gbagbo and his rival Alassane Ouattara claimed victory. World leaders have recognised Ouattara as winner and West African regional bloc ECOWAS has threatened Gbagbo with an intervention.

"Ghana is not taking sides, and Ghana will support any government," Mills said during in a speech. "I personally do not think the military option will solve the problem in Ivory Coast."
