WELLINGTON, Feb 24 (Reuters) - The death toll from the earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand's second biggest city, was raised to 98 by police on Thursday with grave concerns held for 226 others.

"At present we can confirm that we have received a total of 98 bodies. The identification of the remainder will remain a long and complex process," said police commander Dave Cliff.

He said they had a list of 226 other people for whom there were grave concerns.

Police released the first four names of confirmed victims, which included babies of five months and nine months. (Created by Gyles Beckford)
