LONDON, April 16 (Reuters) - Six countries have bid to host a fund designed to help raise up to $100 billion a year for the world's poorest countries, the vehicle's interim secretariat said in a press release on Monday.

Germany, Mexico, Namibia, Poland, South Korea and Switzerland have all made official requests to headquarter the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in their countries, the release said.

The yet-to-be-appointed board of the GCF will assess the nominations and make a recommendation by autumn, which will then need to be approved by parties at U.N. climate talks in Qatar late this year.

The exact number of employees making up the fund's permanent secretariat will also be decided by the board.

The first meeting of the GCF's board was delayed by almost a month after regions including the EU failed to decide which countries should represent them.

It is now scheduled to take place in Switzerland from May 31 to June 2.
