MOSCOW, July 2 (Reuters) - The Kremlin said on Monday that images of Russians celebrating the host team's World Cup win over Spain on Sunday were in many respects comparable to celebrations in the Soviet Union after victory in World War Two.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov added on a conference call with reporters "but of course in this case we are talking not about celebrations about winning a war - this is sport." (Reporting by Andrew Osborn and Maria Kiselyova; writing by Tom Balmforth; Editing by Toby Chopra)
