BERLIN, April 8 (Reuters) - Orders for German engineering companies rose 12% in February, the first double-digit increase since October 2018, industry association VDMA said on Thursday. Domestic orders increased 2% in February compared to the previous year, while foreign orders rose 17%, VDMA said, adding that demand rose significantly in countries outside Europe. "An order increase of 20% compared to last year confirms our suggestion that, in addition to some Asian countries, some sales regions outside Europe are on a significant growth path," said VDMA chief economist Ralph Wiechers in a statement. "Domestic demand shows a degree of resilience again, but the recovery process leaves much to be desired," he said.
