Helping Ethiopians become more resilient to drought

Millions of people in Ethiopia are regularly affected by drought. Since 2012, the EU has provided more than €100 million to build the resilience of the affected communities in the country. In eight areas, where one-fourth of drought-prone populations live, the EU’s humanitarian and development departments, together with 30 partners, have joined forces to make a difference for these communities. By simultaneously providing nutrition assistance, access to health care for both humans and animals, water and better hygiene, and livelihoods opportunities, communities have been empowered to better deal with the effects of drought.
