The first active player in NFL history to come out as gay, Carl Nassib has signed a one-year contract with The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

August 15 - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and defensive end Carl Nassib have agreed to a one-year deal, ESPN reported Monday.

Financial terms of the contract have not yet been released.

Nassib, 29, will be returning to Tampa Bay, where he previously played for two seasons (2018-19). He's also spent time with the Cleveland Browns (2016-17) and the Las Vegas Raiders (2020-21).

In 86 career games (37 starts), the former third-round draft pick has racked up 164 tackles and 22 sacks. He's also forced four fumbles and recorded one interception.

During his time with the Raiders, Nassib became the first active player in NFL history to come out as gay, making the announcement in 2021.
