Typhoon completely devastates general hospital in Philippines’ Guiuan

Transcript:

I'm in Guiuan, a town in Eastern Samar in central Philippines, where super Typhoon Haiyan made the first of six landfalls. It's a lot smaller than Tacloban, only about 45,000 people living here. But the damage that the storm has done has been equally devastating. I'm standing in front of what used to be the general hospital here in Guiuan. As you can see, this place as well as the local health clinic down the road, have been completely devastated. I flew in with Medecins Sans Frontieres, the medical aid agency MSF, and they're setting up healthcare services among the ruins here. They're also assisting and supporting local health authorities and health workers, in making sure the health services are up and running as soon as possible. A Filipino doctor told me, "When your health is gone, everything else is gone as well." But health is just a small part of what is going to be a very long and hard road to recovery for people who are affected by Haiyan in central Philippines.
