Many children leave their homes in search of better living conditions. They move from rural zones to urban zones, either inside the same country or migrating into another. In West Africa, and more specifically in Benin-Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Togo and Guinea, Terre des hommes endeavours to better understand the movements of children in order to put into place measures adapted to their specific protection needs. While migration can be a source of opportunity and success, it can also lead to the exploitation of vulnerable children. Often found alone, these children take risks during their journey and at their destination.
